Calling all freelancers & solo practitioners
By Barbara Gibson, ABC | August 21st, 2008
From a Tweet yesterday from a fellow IABC member on Twitter, which asked for referrals for an inexpensive but good collaboration tool, an idea was born. Monica Sufaro Spigelman and I have launched a new eXchange site that we hope can become a discussion area for IABC members who work on their own, to share information, resources, etc. Neither of us want to “own” the site, so we’re kicking it off and inviting anyone who wants to join in to become Administrators, with full access to shape the site, almost like a wiki. It’s an experiment, and since we haven’t done anything like it before, who knows if it will work, but in any case, it’ll be good experience, and there’s no risk. So if you’ve got info to share, or need help from those more experienced, check it out at http://freelancer.x.iabc.com. And if you’d like to take a leadership role in the site, let me or Monica know.

Thank you, Barbara! The eXchange discussion already has identified several great resources. IABC is a global community and platforms like eXchange bring the network alive, help us reach out and share knowledge quickly. Through online networking you certainly are more than just an IABC figurehead! Todd Defren on his PR Squared blog had a good discussion today about listening…and, as a sidebar to his comments, I’ll say you’re practicing “actionable listening.”
